There was a time when a bar was synonymous with drinking, alcohol and nothing else. It also was not considered to be a good place to be or where cultured people went. Of course, those were the olden days and the status of a bar has come quite a long way to now. In today's time a bar, can be a hip and vibrant place to be, where of course, one gets alcohol, but also so many other things. Delhi is one of the fastest growing cities, with numerous facilities for entertainment just waiting for one. There are malls, gym and health club in Saket, cinemas, various restaurants and places to eat. One can find almost anything that tickles their fancy in this city, with ease. But coming back to the topic of a bar, they have become the playground for young college kids to graduates and the usual office goers, chilling after a hard day at work. The bar scene of today has moved quite far away from the yesteryears one and owners are putting in a lot of time and effort to make their bar more different and unique by adding some kind of factor that will be their key factor to bring in patrons.
Bars are also the new place for struggling and up-coming artists to find a platform to show their talents. There are many bars that host karaoke nights or Sufi nights or even stand up comedy nights where participants can come up and display their talents. A specialty bar in Delhi is also easy to find, since this concept is gaining popularity too. Bars also hold different events like food competitions, ladies nights, poetry readings and more. The bars of today are more than just a place to get some booze and instead have become a place to have fun. We all love shopping. It is an instant mood changer for all of us. Researches have also shown that shopping has a positive effect on our mind and body. Some studies show that shopping increases brain activity, which in turn result in positive thinking. The moment we see a pair of nice shoes or earrings our brain releases the mood lifting hormone called endorphin. All these studies are based on an assumption that we all enjoy shopping. When we go out for shopping, we look for the best shopping destinations where we can find excellent variety of goods and that too at discounted prices. Delhi is one of the most preferred shopping destinations for shoppers. Not just for residents of Delhi and NCR but for tourists as well, shopping tops the itinerary chart when they make a visit to Delhi. Markets of Delhi have an exotic and vibrant atmosphere which makes your shopping a fun experience. Here you will find a range of shopping options, from traditional street markets and bazaars to the posh and classy malls. In malls you will find some of the leading branded stores, whereas in street markets you can purchase goods at much less prices. Some of the best places to shop in Delhi include Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Sarojini nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Khan Market, Hauz Khas Village Market and Dilli Haat. Dilli Haat is mainly known for its emporiums which showcase works of different regional artists. Artists from different regions of India come here to showcase their craft work, which include jewelry items made from cane and bamboo, hand-made wooden articles, woolens and shawls. In Delhi, you’ll also find a number of wholesale markets, the popular ones being Khari Baoli, Sarojini market, Mehrauli, Ghanta Ghar and Bhajanpura. Here you can purchase items at prices much less than those in the stores of shopping malls.
So, explore markets of Delhi to enjoy a good shopping experience. Almost everyone is a fitness freak these days. People are wanting to eat better, live better and sleep better in order to keep a healthy and fit body and mind. There all kinds of studies being done on how can the human body be made more fit and healthy, what to eat, how to live, how to sit and more. The increase of junk and fast food, and a generally lazy lifestyle has really made an impact on the human lifestyle and the rise in heart diseases, obesity and other such medical reasons is proof of how fast the human body is deteriorating. Delhi has plenty of amnesties to give a person a fun time like malls and movie theatres in Saket, Greater Kailash and other areas and other such places where one can go for a fun time. But Delhi also boasts of many top of the line gyms that are available for any fitness or health need one might have. In the recent few years many a gym club in Saket, Huaz Khas and other areas have opened up to much popularity. There are probably more than 2 gyms in every locality of Delhi. And this is because of the flurry of need that everyone has gotten to go to a gym, thinking it is the only place to get a fit body. And to an extent this is true.
A gym is a very good place for those wanting to adopt a new and fit lifestyle and for that sometimes one needs the help of a professional in getting to that point. A gym provides high end equipment and trained professionals who will lend their services to the customers in getting their body in a better state than it is. But the reason to join a gym should be to get a healthier and fit body, not to make a style statement or fit into society's norm of what a beautiful body should be. Shopping malls are the constituents of the commerce industry and while we satisfy our shopping needs by buying branded clothes, accessories and bags, the owners of these malls make a lot of money. ' There are several Places to shop in delhi and the number of malls is growing daily. Although these shopping malls share a give-and-take relationship with us- giving shopping delights and taking money, some of them also take part in charity. CSR Activities in Shopping Malls are done by investing a part of profit for the larger good of society. This indeed drives people’s attention and leads to promotion, but they charge nothing to provide these additional facilities related to education, social causes and health care. Given below is a list of some of the common CSR activities that you’d come across while you visit a mall. • Blood donation camps: Several shopping malls organize blood donation camps by setting a booth up right on the entrance of the mall and you’d often see a group of individuals vigorously involved in the entire process.
• Vaccination camps: Some of the shopping malls allow a medicine center to set up free vaccination booths in the malls. It’s a wonderful idea to serve the underprivileged people of our society. • Women empowerment: The sight of a group of ardent ladies standing together to share pamphlets and women magazines- focusing on the strength of women, is so common today. Such camps push women toward self-recognition and drive them to become outgoing. • Days and events: Just think of a day celebrated worldwide, and you will have a shopping mall celebrating it with vigor and passion. Booths are placed on World’s environment day and AIDS day. And there are many more. Be it NGO or an embassy-these malls collaborate with all for the community causes. The best part is that these activities involve people of all ages from all walks of life. The days when one visited the shopping malls only for shopping are long gone. Visit any mall on weekends, and you would find it buzzing with all kinds of people- shoppers, window shoppers, teenagers hanging out, families spending some quality time together etc. And then there are those who visit malls to catch up on some movies. Here is why I prefer theatres in malls than anywhere else: 1. Comfortable seats and more leg space Yes, I like to laze around in my chair while watching a movie. Theatres within the best shopping malls in India usually have better and more comfortable seats, not to forget more leg space for people who have longer legs. This just makes the whole experience so much better. 2. Convenience
Going for a movie in a mall is so much more convenient for so many reasons. I do not like to limit this activity to weekends because of lack of timings. Because of multiple screens, the PVR cinemas timings in the nearest mall are super convenient so that I can go even after work. The multiplicity of food outlets where I can satisfy my hunger with delectable dinner is another added advantage. Lack of parking hassles is yet another reason I prefer malls. 3. Safety Well, the best malls are well-guarded so that I really do not have to worry much about my safety when I go out for late-night movies with my friends or family. My friends and I take all precautions, of course, but the presence of people around puts our minds at ease. 4. Location One of the best shopping malls in India is just a stone’s throw away from my house. And hence I do not have to think twice before leaving my house to catch up on a movie, whether or not someone accompanies me. Laziness is the rust that eats us away gradually. A lot can be achieved only if we can overcome the temporary lust which laziness. My cousin gave in to sloth and gained so much of weight that only XXL clothes fit her. She ignored the very first signs of weight gain and indulged in junk as if that was the right thing to do. Moreover, she turned a deaf ear to whosoever asked her to workout. Laziness always took over. She would barely move herself; she would take her car even if it’s a distance which could be easily covered by foot, always take the lift to reach their second floor flat! And man how much she hated to eat anything that even looked healthy! But all these were two years back. Now if anyone sees my cousin, believing in any of the above would be impossible. Call it a miracle or a realization but one fine day it hit my cousin that she is turning into something she herself was not comfortable looking at. None of the salons in Delhi could offer her a solution. It was late but not unachievable, and she dumped sloth over determination and started working on herself. In two years, just two years, she reduced herself to what she used to be and proved nothing is impossible if you move ahead with a strong resolution.
She started to hit a South Delhi Gym as her initial attempt to knock off her extra kilos. They chalked out her diet plan and routine of exercises. We all thought she wouldn’t be able to withstand the tough regime of the gym and it’s just a matter of weeks before she gives up. But no, if she gave up anything, that was her infamous laziness. She surprised us all not with her new avatar, but the amount of hard work she put in to molding into it. We love going to restaurants. Sometimes, we look for reasons to escape the daily taste of the home made food and sneak in restaurants for having a different taste. But is it only about food? Is it just the taste and quality of food that make us sit in restaurants for hours or are there other things that matter? Let’s talk about some of the other factors that make a restaurant appealing. Cleanliness: Though are rooms are mess, we want to go to a restaurant which is cleaned and decently maintained. And why not! After all we are paying for it! The best restaurants in delhi take proper care of the cleanliness and hygiene in order to attract the customers. Apart from having meals, people flock into restaurants to have a great time to sit and chat with family and friends. A clean and spotless restaurant attracts more people to eat. Lighting: How do you imagine a bar or a café? Maybe a low lighted environment with music playing in the background to set just the right mood to enjoy drinks? Best restaurants and café in delhi ensure that proper lighting is done to create an ambiance. Some of the restaurants also change the intensity of lights according over the course of the day, for example a bright light in the daytime followed by dim lights at the night.
Texture and Artwork: We are delighted by what we see. Restaurants carefully choose the texture of walls, floors and furniture and the artwork involved in them. For example, large oil paintings are used to enhance the beauty of a sophisticated restaurant. On the other hand, restaurants who are into attracting young gen use rough and rustic woods in walls and floors. On the whole, it’s important for a restaurant to provide a good vibe through its ambiance before people start off with their food. 5th September, 2010: The day my friends and I celebrated the last teacher’s day of our memorable school life with the best teachers we could have ever asked for. I do not know if this happens in your school too (and I do hope it does), but teacher’s day always used to be a half-day at our school. That being our last year of school, we could already sense the nostalgia creeping in. Saddened by the thought of our culminating journey, two of my best friends and I decided to watch a movie together to cheer ourselves up. The nearest mall was barely 100 steps away from the school, and we walked down to check the PVR cinema’s timings for any great movie. As it turned out, there were three great movies and all three of us wanted to watch a different movie. Unable to come to a conclusion, we decided we would watch all three movies one after the other. The idea was absolutely crazy but we went ahead with the plan anyway. We knew that experiences like these were what we would always remember, no matter what. And guess what! We thoroughly enjoyed each movie and it wasn’t so because the movies were great. It was also because of our deep bonds of friendship with one another and how we always had the best time together. Situated in one of the best shopping malls in India, the theatre could not have had a better location. In the two breaks that we got after the movies, we stepped outside the theatre premises, ate something yummy each time and did some window-shopping as well. We would have loved to shop in real but it was the lack of finances and not paucity of time that stopped us. And the day ended perfectly with the scariest movie I had ever dared to watch in a theatre. It was one of the best days ever and I am sure I would always cherish these memories!
I was sitting in my office, browsing through the internet for some presentation I have to work on. Pretty much the busy me I always am these days. Just a glance across the little date flashing in the right hand corner of my laptop, made me realize, today I completed three years in the Capital, in Delhi. Astonishingly enough, I remember the date, the day I stepped into the capital leaving behind the comfort zone of my own city. Back then I used to be a student- clueless about the lifestyle of the city and ecstatic about the newly found freedom. From daily lectures, and night out with friends, to buying vegetables and taking care of the laundry, my days in Delhi made me familiar to myself, and instilled a sense of belongingness to the city. The crazy madness of checking PVR cinema timings each Friday and looking forward to a friend’s birthday just to pester him to treat us are memories which would be etched forever in my mind. They are a part of my growing up into an adult in true sense. The city stands as a witness to my journey from being a student to a professional.
Three years! It is surprising how different goals I had back then! One of them was hunting down all fast food corners of Delhi every weekend and now I am hunting for a Delhi Gym which would suit my office timings! Not that I have grown in size, I have just grown conscious. Delhi would always be a treasure trove of fond memories, and my metamorphosis from a girl to a woman. On this day, I could not help but look at what I used to be and what I am now. No, I have not lost anything. I do not have any regrets. Sure, the Capital is flawed in its own way, but on this day, I choose not look at Delhi the way it is by most. I want to thank it. Thank you, Delhi! |
