Whenever something calls for a party, dining out is what I can think of. Chit-chat, laughter and soul food are the ingredients of a perfect evening. The smallest of celebrations in our families are shared over a hearty meal at one of our favorite restaurants in Delhi.By paying for the meal we buy priceless moments which will be relished in our memories. However, one can’t help but cringe when the experience is any less exotic. Prying eyes, wailing kids, or unusually loud crowd: anything of the sort is enough to put off your mood. Such disturbances though a nuisance, aren’t uncommon at even the most premium eateries in India.
Though I am not a staunch supporter of typical English idea of amiable gentlemen and ladies, but I do believe a bare minimum of western etiquette will ensure that you aren’t bothersome to others. And it is not me alone. Most restaurants in Delhi encourage more refined clientele as regular patrons, so a reasonable better behavior may get you the preferences frequenters get.
First, don’t rearrange the furniture according to your own convenience. Pulling in extra chairs than your table is meant to accommodate just to keep your Delhi shopping bags is not okay. It may interrupt smooth passage and makes the place look cluttered. Moreover it hassles up others around you. Should you need a table for more people than a table allows, discreetly ask the manager and they shall make proper arrangements.
Second, talking loudly is again a display of inconsideration towards others. A restaurant is not the place to be loud and boisterous. Attend your calls in the smoking area or outside if you need to be loud.
Third, staring at others is offensive and especially while dining. Yes you are capable of offending someone by looking in the eye. Respect everyone’s privacy.
So, by keeping such small things in mind you can actually make a difference.
